I'm 25 years old, male, and I've been physically active in exercise and sports most of my life.
I've been experiencing debilitating fatigue for a month and a half now. I wasn't too worried about it, until I started experiencing serious chest pain that would come in burst of about an hour or so and then leave. I went to the hospital, thinking I was having a heart attack.
They took and EKG, echo-cardiogram, stress test, blood counts, and chest X-ray, and everything came back normal.
Meanwhile, I kept experiencing fatigue and chest pain for three weeks that came in waves. Each wave lasted about two to three days where I would be exhausted, in pain, and experiencing shortness of breath. After the "wave" I would feel relatively fine for a day or two.
Last week I was tested for thyroid problems, Lyme disease, and mono, and they all came back negative. The doctor also asked about anxiety and depression, but I don't feel I have problems with either.
This week, the "waves" have continued, but the symptoms have changed. At the start of the week I was experiencing a strange weakness in my legs. It, too, came in waves, but the waves would only last an hour or two. Yesterday, another wave hit, but it didn't go away.
The weird feeling in my legs makes it feel like I can't use the muscle in them, and my legs feel uncoordinated. In fact, sometimes it feels like I've forgotten how to walk, and I need to concentrate just to step in a straight line.
I looked online and found that people with MS have similar symptoms. Fatigue is common, there is something called the "MS hug" that matches my chest pain, difficulty walking and limb coordination is common, and symptoms for MS usually start out coming in waves. In short, every symptom I've had sounds like it could be MS, or at least a neurological problem.
Having said all that, what do you suggest I do? Should I seek out a neurologist, or should I just keep low for a few more weeks and see how I'm feeling after a while?
