Im 27 Year Old Married Since 3years , We Are

Im 27 year old married since 3years , we are planning to have kid, my periods are regular .. when been to doctor she suggested folic acid tablet folesafe which I have been taking from one month , now my friend says to take CCQ-50 tablet .. my question is can it be taken without doctors prescription and when natural ovulation happens why do we take CCQ-50?
