I'm 49 Years Old, Always Regular With My Periods.. Usually

I'm 49 years old, always regular with my periods.. usually about 3 days early (average). This month I started to have the premenstrual cramps around the time I should, but after a few day, my period never came. I am definitely not pregnant. Could I be going through menopause this early? My most current periods have been not as heavy as they used to be... and not as long as they used to be. I'm just concerned that I suddenly didn't have my period this month..
