I'm 53 Years Old And Believe That I Am In

I'm 53 years old and believe that I am in pre-menopause. For the last few years, my periods have become more irregular but still only lasting 3-5 days but with several months in between. Currently, I have been bleeding for almost 7 weeks straight. I have been feeling very tired and I'm losing weight. I have an appt. to see my dr. But I'm curious what (if anything) she will be able to do for me. In the past, I have been on depo provera shots to prevent pregnancy and it caused my periods to stop completely for a couple of years. Is this an option for me now that I'm 53?
