I'm 54 Years Old And Have Never Suffered From Hives

I'm 54 years old and have never suffered from hives until 3 weeks ago. Extremely swollen itchy hives in various places over the course of 2-3 weeks. My 13 year old developed symptoms as well although not as bad. Well this past week we developed a horrible stomach virus. After losing everything in my system I woke up with 2 new hives. Are the hives and stomach virus related? I don't have anything in my system but this virus now.
