I'm 65, and have lower back problems for years. 20 years ago x-rays showed DDD. More recent, been going to a chiropractor because the lower back pain was worse with pain radiating to the left side of my hip. The treatments have not been helping. Every morning I have difficulty standing up straight to get out of bed. I just received the results of lumbar & pelvis x-rays:
1)No acute osseous findings identified radiographically in the lower spine.
2) Severe disc narrowing at L2-L3. There is also retrolisthesis of L2 on L3 measuring 4mm.
3)Mild dextroscoliosis in the lumbar spine
My chiropractor has me trying a lift in my left show to see if it helps the pain.
My son, who is a PA but presently attending medical school, wants me to find a DO specialist for back pain. My daughter, who is a nurse practitioner thinks I should see a Physiatrist. I don't really want surgery and am looking for suggestions. Thanks
