I'm A Female, 62, Good Health. Have Been Suffering With

I'm a female, 62, good health. Have been suffering with ankle pain and swelling for the past 3-4 months. Finally I scheduled an appointment with ortho specialist, was examined Friday - right inner ankle pain and swelling. X-rays were negative, no broken or fractured bones, no real signs on arthritis. He suspects tendinitis and/or tenosynovitis, would need MRI to confirm, but for now suggested to ice ankle, and take anti-inflamitory meds, continue taking normal walks keeping to relatively flat terrain. Suggested to do for month and see if swelling and pain lessen or go away. Any other suggestions? How often to ice, how many ibp and frequency?
