I'm A Para That Has A Colostomy And Has To

I'm a para that has a colostomy and has to self Cath. I feel like old stool has harden up in my rectum. Will that cause me not to be able to self Cath ? I've had this feeling a few days and have tried twice and no success on cathing also feels might be stool blocking the cathing.
