I'm A School Nurse And Have A 12 Year Student

I'm a school nurse and have a 12 year student that had a mediport removed in the fall after 8 month chemo treatment for sarcoma. He is in remission. He came to my office today after noticing swelling to the left and under the healed port site. No heat, redness or tenderness to palpation. It is soft, tissue like with no palpable borders. Is this normal after port removal? He does have an appointment with his PCP on 1/18/16.
