I'm A Teacher. Today During Class, I Had A Sharp

I'm a teacher. Today during class, i had a sharp pain in my left hand. At the base of my thumb it looks as if a blood vessel burst, At the time it happened the vein or artery was raised and visible. Since then my hand has some pain and feel numb to my elbow. I was not using my left hand, I was sitting writing with my right hand.
