I'm Caring For My Mother Who Is In The Latter

I'm caring for my mother who is in the latter stages of Alzheimer. She is currently on Lactulose (1tsp/day) to help with impacted bowels. She began fairly consistent bowel movements after a week. Her last few BM have been jelly-like in consistency. Why is this?
