I'm Curious As To What Would Cause Swelling And Redness

I'm curious as to what would cause swelling and redness on my husbands heel. It's just below the ankle bone, but on the back of his heel. He doesn't remember hitting it . It's been bothering him for a couple of days now. any pressure on it is very painful.
