I'm Currently Experiencing Menstrual Type Pains As It Is Due

I'm currently experiencing menstrual type pains as it is due to be that time of the month but the pains are so sharp they tend to make me twitch or make my bottom half go into spasm , where I then get a shooting pain either down my right thigh or across my upper back what could this be?
