I'm Currently Taking Tramadol 200mg 1x Per Day And I

I'm currently taking tramadol 200mg 1x per day and I also use a butrans patch of 10mg, that I apply 1x per week...it slowly releases a little bit over the week. I've been told that these 2 meds shouldn't be taken together. Why are these meds not suppose to b used togeather ...."what do they do when taken togeather?"
I told my Dr that the butrans patch doesn't do anything for me after the first 2-3 days but he tells me that it's stronger then tramadol and wanted to take me off the tramadal an keep me on the patch but I told him that if I stopped the tramadal I am lifeless and ache all over an end up with severe migrains.....plus its like I go through withdraw if I miss 1 dose of the tramadal so if anything I'll stop the patch but I still need an extra alternative if I do stop the patch because the 200mg of tramadal won't b strong enough. So I asked him to up my dose of tramadol n he said no cause he doesn't want me addicted to it . Ugh ... I suffer from Cervical disk disease n fibromyalgia so I'm in chronic pain but these meds only help if I'm not really doing anything n thats not possible as I'm a mother of 5 boys! So what my next question is, "what med would you recommend for me that would help me ease my pain but satisfy my Dr who doesn't like to prescribe narcotics?"
