I'm Experiencing Sharp Left Sided Rib Pain. I Thought Maybe

I'm experiencing sharp left sided rib pain. I thought maybe was a floating rib so I've been using some ice/hot medicated patches and alternating with heat wraps. I've recently experienced a rash where OTC patches are. It hurts to breathe and my ribs are now bruised from front to back. No injuries, just went to bed hurting. Any ideas?
