I'm Having Pain In My Ankle And Not Sure Why?

I'm having pain in my ankle and not sure why? it started with a long drive and then I got out of the car and had shooting pain and could barely walk on it, pain continued for an hour or so then went away. itof my foot after a long day at work comes back off and on and when it does it is a 8,9 out of 10 om the pain. then the pain resides to about 1-3. oh also before this I feel like I have pain on the top of my foot when I work long days? Please tell me what you think? Thank you
