I'm inquiring about a young relative of mine. He is 13/14 years old. In October he was first diagmoised with strep throat & prescribed an antibiotic, A few days later it was found he had mono and immediately was taken off antibiotic & given something that sounds like ceffelex accord. to his mother, In Dec. he returned to school for days and has not been back since. He started having severe pain in his legs and it was difficult for him to walk. He was prescribed an anti inflamatory medicine but never made it to the prescrobed dosage because then he started voimting, especially after he ate. He was able to keep only a few dry crackers down. He also went to physical therapy 3 times a week, where they used a combination of whirlpool, heat, massage. This seemed to be helping. He was provided with an anti inflamatory creme that his mother tries to put on, but has found that he can barely stand to have her touch his legs, There is no redness or swelling. He has had blood work that reveals no abnormality as due the x-rays and the MRI. In January he started expeirencing severe migrains. Once again any medicine given resulted in upset stomach. Now he has been diagnoised with strep throat again and prescribed antibiotic. The boy has not been ib school & goes no where because of multi problems. He stays in his room most of the time in the dark. Has not made it to therapy for over weeks because of headaches. This person is quite intelligent and was played on a soccer team, but now finds it hard to concentrate & his home instructor has been cancelled several times because of migrains & leg pain & upset stomach.
