I'm Trying To Understand My Son's Literal Take On Situations.

I'm trying to understand my son's literal take on situations. He is appearing to be defiant but I actually think he's responding to requests in a certain way - always questions, always wanting to know all the details first before making a decision or a response. This is frustrating when it's a simple request to help around the house and there has to be a full blown discussion, but it can escalate very quickly into an emotionally tense situation is good for no one. I'm reading about aspergers and autism spectrum. He's a very bright boy and top of his school class. And a beautiful person but we as a family are struggling to understand why he is appearing to be so uncooperative and won't anything he doesn't want to do. I know that sounds like he's just rebelling but it's something different.
