In 2011 I Was Diagnosed With Hypercalcemia. Testing Showed No

In 2011 I was diagnosed with hypercalcemia. Testing showed no thyroid problems. My blood calcium levels have returned to normal range.
I stopped taking calcium in 2011.
I just had a yearly physical last week and my bone density indicated I have osteopenia.
My doctor said I should take 1200mg of calcium plus vitamin D. I reminded her that in 2011 I stopped taking calcium because of the hypercalcemia.
Question. Should I take the 1200mg of calcium plus Vitamin D?
