Injured My Right Ring Finger Knuckle (metacarpal) Today While Horseback

Injured my right ring finger knuckle (metacarpal) today while horseback riding. I didn't notice the pain until I got home, and now I cannot extent, retract, or apply pressure to that finger. Splint and ibuprofen for a couple of days and hope it's just jammed or go in for X-rays tomorrow?
