Is Bactoban Safe For Treatment Of A Yellow Circular Sore Under The Nose?

hi my son has a small yellow circular sore just under his nose, i took him to the chemist they thought it could be it could be the start of impetigo. phoned the doc for a prescription and given Bactoban. the cream seems to make it run more, it seems contained to the one area and doesn't look like any of the photos of impetigo. am i ok to continue with this cream ?
