Is HCG Level Blood Test Normal After Taking BC Pills?

my doctor took a blood test today to check my hcg levels for signs of inflamation of the lining of the womb. I went to the doctor after taking the emergency contraceptive pill and 1 week later i have been bleeding for 5 days now with alot of cramps. is this a normal blood test to do?
