Is Klonopin Advisable For Depression?

my son has recently been subscribed the drug klonopin for slight depression/anxiety due to worry, 5 mg, he has attention deficit disorder since age of 5 years, as an 31 year old adult will this meds help with that?, He does smoke occassionaly due to this anxiety issue, will this also help with that issue?
