Is Minoxidil Advisable For Hair Thinning?

Hi Doctor, I have severe hair fall and it s falling out from roots as well as hair thinning also so I went to dermatologists and she suggested me to use tricogro tablet and minoxidil 2%. But I am scary to use minoxidil because I heard it s a long term use and if I stop using again hair fall will occur. Please advise can I use minoxidil for hair loss problem and how long I have to use it. Thank you.
