Is Splint Advisable For Hairline Fracture In Finger?

I may have a hairline fracture on my right index finger. I went to urgent care 3 days after I injured it (2 weeks ago). The doctor said that it looked like a hairline fracture but that he needed a radiologist to look at it. they gave me a finger splint but I find it ridiculous to have to pay another copay to find out if it was actually fractured or when to stop wearing the splint.
