Is A Painful Mole On The Thigh Indicative Of Cancer?

Hi I have a mole on my thigh and I had it checked out a couple years ago and they wanted to remove it cause it had the possibility of getting cancerous and I woke up last night because I had sharp pains coming from it. Any thoughts of what it is or what I should do?
