Is Abdominal Surgery Best Choice For Enlarged Uterus With Fibroid?

My OB/GYN tells me that I need to have an abdominal hysterectomy due to the size of the uterus (13 x 8 x 12) plus a golf-balled sized fibroid inside and out of the uterus. Another doctor says that he is 75% sure he can do a laproscopic surgery. I m concerned about recovery time, but I don t want to have any serious problems after the surgery. Is the abdominal surgery the best choice?
