Is Alcohol Consumption Advisable While On Pravastatin For Cholestrol?

Hi, I was just prescribed pravastatin (40 mg) once a day by my physician to lower my cholesterol level, currently at 240. After reading info on the interaction with alcohol and effects on the liver, I was wondering what a safe rate of alcohol consumption would be while taking this medication. I do not drink daily, but sometimes I may have more than 2. Is this safe? My weekly consumption is probably 9 oz of alcohol, Say 3-4 oz a night on the weekends. None during the week. Should I give up the alcohol? Or could you recommend a safe amount. I have normal liver function at this time.
