Is An Yellow Scab On A Cut And Bruise Normal?

Hi, my daughter fell on Sunday whilst trying to escape a mugger. She fell on her face She has a nasty graze down the side, a cut under her nose and bruising. It is also very swollen. She cleaned it with water and disinfectant and has since been advised to bathe with salt water. It looks nasty still and has a yellow type of scab forming. Is this normal.
