Is Birth Control Pill Only Solution For Over Active Uterus?

Hello, My question is a obgyn issue. I have been have constant abdominal pain since May, after having a myomectomy to remove fibroids. My physician seems to believe that it may be a result of uterine cyst that are due to an over active uterus. She would like to start me on a birthcontrol, which I am not excited about. I have never been sexually active and is not a big fan of birth control and the many side effects that may come with them but would love to get rid of the pain and swelling. Would you recommend the use of birthcontrol even if its not sure if this would work and if so which brand? I am frantic about the side effects of many of the pills on the market!
