Is Blood With Pus From Ear Normal Due To Hole In Ear?

i have a problem with my ear .I used 2 get puss from my left ear, when I consulted a doctor he said that there is a hole in the ear, it can be treated only by operation and he said that it migth be a failure. so, I took a step back ward and bearing this from many years. but suddenly yesterday i noticed blood along with puss in my ear. Is this harmful?? can u tel me the reason behind this??
