Is Cervical Polyp In The Opening Of Cervix Serious?

Hi, I have just had my annual check up with my gynocologists and she discovered a cervical polyp in the opening of my cervix. From reading, polyps are most likely to occur for women that have been pregnant several times. However, I have never been pregnant or had an abortion. I get frequent BV infections during seasonal changes and fear that I have HPV. I will not know for sure until I get the results. How common is it for a woman that has never been pregnant to get a polyp and is this a sign of cancer?
