Is Cramping Normal After Hysterectomy?

I am 1 week post op from a hysterectomy and I do have BM though tend to be constipated. Have taken stool softeners, M of M and the BMs do seem to be getting softer. But, the cramping that I am having is very painful, which has been going on for the last 3 days. Is this normal ? There is no bleeding or fever.
