Is Dark Menstrual Discharge Normal After Removal Of IUD?

My paraguard IUD came out last month and when i got my period this month it was 4 days late, which isn't too unusual for me, but after the 2nd day of my period i started having dark brown almost black blood. at first it was reg flow but subsided to light spotting. DId something happen when the iud came out or is this normal??
