Is Extra Strength Tylenol Safe While Taking Amoxicillin For An Ear Infection?

Hi, today I went to a clinic and was prescribed amoxicillin for an ear infection as well as ratio-acyclovir for singles around my eyes, both for a period of 7 days. I was told by the pharmacist that it would take at least 3 days before the amoxicillin would help my ear infection. Well the pain in my ear is so bad that I was wondering if I can take extra strength Tylenol in the meantime? BTW I am 66 years old. It was recommended that I see an opthalmologist for my shingles since it is so close to my eyes, which I will hopefully do tomorrow.
