Is Ichthyosis Related With Eye Congestion?

my son is 24 and has severe ichthyosis and suffers about 4 times a month where his eyes feel like there are knives in them and he can't open them and is in awful pain. He also gets a ton of congestion at the same time and is unable to open his eyes or do anything for at least 18 hours. could it be related to the ichthyosis?
