Is It Advisable To Pack The Perennial Wound Post Surgical Removal Of Abscess?

my husband have perianal abcess/ fistula in ano surgery done 2 days ago. the surgeon just want us to have sanitary pad over it. it is a deep wound and there was a packing on it before but that was post surgery. now, I want to pack the wound but unsure of it. since packing the wound will make it heal inside out.
