Is It Advisable To Remove Tooth After Fitting Crown?

Had crown installed over two teeth. About 18 months ago. Latest dental X-ray shows cloudy in that area. Dentist claims only remedy is to pull teeth and install bridge. This seems extreme. Dentist will not consider antibiotics. Hate to destroy perfectly good crown not to mention tooth loss. Advice would be appreciated.
