Is It Advisable To Skip Contraceptive Pills?

So I am taking Lutera and I am looking forward to having sex on prom night with my boyfriend but I am on my period during prom. Is it safe/normal to skip the different colored pills so I don't experience my menstrual cycle prom night? And just continue taking my regular pills? Or in other words...what can I do to not be on my period prom night and still continue to be safe?
