Is It Advisable To Take An Extra Pill Of Vicodin For Torn Meniscus?

I am a recovery addict of 11 years. I have a torn meniscus and my doctor has limited my vicodin use to 30 pills for 10 days. this is not treating my pain. my pain level is at a 7 if I don t take at least 1.5 5/325 vicodin every 6 hours. however she has stated she will not prescribe anymore till I see my ortho on the 9th. Is this practice okay? Am I to be in pain because of my past history. The label on the med says take 1-2 every 4-6 hours.
