My 88 year old father had a prostate biopsy for elevated PSA and BPH. A month later, he still has a catheter, and was told he needed green light surgery. He s been seeing his cardiologist (clean bill of health) and his GP during this time. I think the care he s gotten is terrible. His health has declined significantly since- he has no energy. I question whether he should have ever had the biopsy at all (it came back negative) since everything I ve read says that PSA screening, biopsies, and prostate cancer treatment at his age is not warranted. We talked him into getting a second opinion next week from a highly rated urologist, but got a lot of flack from the original urologist. Any suggestions?
