Is It Harmful To Cut The Mole With A Nail Cutter?

I have a question regarding a mole (nevi) that I had on the back part of my armpit. It was a hanging mole that had a narrow neck, so I used a nail clipper and cut it off without thinking of the possible consequences. . . I feel I have made a terrible mistake. How dangerous are the consequences to this act?
