Is It Normal For A Bruise To Keep Growing? I

Is it normal for a bruise to keep growing? I had a trip to the ER last night due to server abdominal pain (which is gone now) but as they put the I.V. in my left arm they were having trouble and after they got it in something never quite felt right. It still doesn't feel right and have been having a slight headache today as well.The bruise seems to be growing up and down my arm.
