Is It Normal To Have Abdominal Pain And Spotting With Ovarian Cysts?

Found ovarian cyst on right ovary (golf ball size) a week and half ago. they gave me pain meds and said to come back in 4-6 wks. I have since continued abdominal pain and pressure but nthing sharp with pain meds. However, I have developed a low grade fever for past 4 days and am exhausted. I am in constant pain and with two little kids I can not just "take it easy". I am worried it is getting worse, either larger or in a spot that causes pain. Today I woke up to more pain and was spotting but not even enough to call a period. I have also had an iud for a year and a half and hadn't had a period or any bleeding till this came up. My doc scheduled an appointment for me 7 days from now but is there anything else I should be aware of or do in the mean time?
