Is It Normal To Have Brown Discharge With Foul Odor After Giving Birth?

Hi, I just had a baby about 3 and 1/2 weeks ago and my bloody period stuff is gone and now the discharge is brown to yellow in colour and it smells funny is this normal? I also have many stitches down there, could there be an infection and how would i know?
