Is It Normal To Have Swelling And Pain Post Total Knee Replacement?

I had total knee replacement a month ago, I am 80 years old. I was able to walk right after surgery, but have had a lot of pain and swelling since then. I go to therapy 3 days a week, after I get home my knee hurts so bad I can hardly walk or do anything. How long does this usually last?
