Is It Possible To Have A False Negative On A

Is it possible to have a false negative on a pinworm test? Just was told by dr that mine was negative & she won't prescribe anything. I have seen many little white thread type things in my underwear, & have other symptoms. I did take over the counter meds on her advice 2 weeks ago, but still am having symptoms. Any thoughts on this?
