Is It Possible To Have Shingles Without Blisters Appearing On Skin?

Is it possible to have shingles without the blisters appearing on the skin? I have an under the skin rash that is very painful right where I had shingles 15 years ago. Anything touching it hurts and there is pain in the area making it hard to lie down or sleep. Thank you
