Is It Safe Having Ovaries Removed After Undergoing Mastectomy And Radiation Treatment?

I am 60 years old have had my uterus removed and recently have had a mastectomy of one breast due to cancer.I have had radiation treatment and am now looking at having my ovaries removed would you recommend this I am post menopause my concern is I dont want to take and hormone treatment or run the risk of gaining weight.Appreciate your reply.Katie
