Is It Safe To Have Intercourse After Periods While Its Lightening ?

I'm 26 year old 105lbs and 5 foot 1-ish. I started my period little over two weeks ago. it started to lighten like it was going to end. So I thought it would be safe to have intercourse with my boyfriend. ( Just in case this matters he is 37, and fixed ) Long story short, I have this nasty brown discharge that is light, to not ever there. Then becomes heavy after intercourse. I'm not feeling any pain or discomfort at anytime.
